Losing a stone from a treasured piece is disheartening, but it happens — and replacing it is one of the most satisfying repairs we carry out. We source matching diamonds and coloured stones and set them in our workshop so the finished result is seamless.
Because we are a family business with lower overheads than a large chain, we can offer genuinely competitive prices on stone sourcing and setting. We will always show you the replacement stone and agree the price before any work begins.
Claw Repair
Worn or broken claws are the most common reason a stone works loose. We re-tip or rebuild individual claws and, where necessary, replace entire claw settings to give your stone the secure grip it needs.
Drop in for a free claw appraisal — no appointment required. One of the team will examine your setting under magnification, tell you honestly whether the claws need attention, and quote you on the spot.
Ring Sizing
Fingers change size with temperature, age and circumstance. We size rings up or down in our workshop, cutting and re-soldering the shank to maintain the integrity of the band and any hallmarks where possible.
Most ring sizing jobs are completed within a week; simpler alterations are often ready the same day. We will advise on the best approach for your particular ring — some designs, such as eternity rings, require a slightly different method.
Replating
White gold jewellery is coated with rhodium to give it a bright, hard-wearing finish. Over time that coating wears away, leaving the piece looking dull or slightly yellow. A fresh coat of rhodium plating restores the crisp white appearance in a single visit.
We also replate yellow and rose gold pieces where a refresh of colour or shine is needed. Bring the piece in and we will assess it and give you a price straightaway.
Other Repairs
Re-soldering broken chains and bracelets, fitting new clasps, shortening or lengthening necklaces, pearl re-knotting, safety chain additions, re-shaping bent bands — if something has gone wrong with a piece of jewellery, the chances are we can put it right.
We also carry out full restorations on inherited or vintage pieces: re-polishing, re-setting loose stones, and returning a tired heirloom to wearable condition. Bring it in and we will take a look.
